Trip Planning
To help you with your preparations for your trip in British Columbia we have prepared this list of items you will need. Being properly equipped will ensure your comfort and warmth while on your trip so that you get the most enjoyment from your experience. Temperatures and weather conditions in British Columbia can change quickly, even in the spring/summer warm season, so it is important to be prepared for all. Raingear, clothing you can layer and waterproof boots are most important. Poncho type raingear does not keep you dry and comfortable in our mountain rainforest area or on boat tours.Our Packages include the following:
- Accommodations
- Meals (wine or beer included with dinner)
- Fully guided tours
- Necessary motorized equipment (boats, motors, vehicles)
- Orientation and interpretive information
Things you will need:
- Waterproof rain gear – jacket, hat, pants
- Waterproof hiking footwear
- Clothing that can be layered (fleece or wool is best).
- Camera with good telephoto lens, extra batteries and memory cards
- Binoculars
- Day packsack (to carry rain gear and extra items on day tours)
- Warm jacket, gloves
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Bug repellent
- Small flashlight and extra batteries
- Personal toiletries (including aspirin, antacids, allergy medications as required)
- Pair of soft soled camp shoes (no vibram soles please) or slippers for inside lodge wear. Or we have some flip flop sandals available for your use. Please note also that outdoor shoes are not worn in the lodge.
Important Trip Planning Notes:
Being prepared is an important part of maximizing your wilderness adventure and making it an unforgettable experience. At the time of booking we will provide you with a recommended equipment list to assist you with packing for your tour with us. Please note we do not accept liability for any circumstances that may result in the failure/cancellation of your holiday arrangements which may be due to unusual or unforeseeable circumstances or events beyond our control or that we, our agents, suppliers and associates could have anticipated or avoided. We do not carry health, life, or personal property insurance for guest benefit.We strongly recommend you purchase trip cancellation insurance as well as extended medical insurance to cover life and health care risks while in Canada, emergency evacuation insurance in case such need should arise, and personal property insurance to insure your personal belongings against loss.
Fly Fishing Trips:
- Chest waders, wading boots (absolutely no caulks), fly fishing vest
- Optional gear – your favourite 5/6, 7/8, or 8/9 weight fly rods, reel with good drag system, favourite selection of trout flies, floating and sink tip lines, personal flotation device
A note on cameras:
We strongly recommend a digital SLR or standard SLR camera with detachable lenses, particularly a good telephoto lens. This will give you the best picture memories. A good digital camera or video camera with a high pixel resolution and good optical/digital zoom is also a good choice.Winter Adventures
To ensure your comfort please be prepared for winter temperatures ranging from about -20 to +4 or 5C. We can get quite dramatic temperature swings during winter, but most temperatures average -10 to -4C. Prepare for this adventure as you would for a winter ski trip – warm outdoor gear so you can play in the snow.You will need:
- Winter snow pack boots
- Water proof winter insulated jacket with hood and pants
- Poly or thermal long underwear
- 3 pairs thermal socks
- Warm mitts or gloves and touque
- Warm jacket, gloves

- Round trip ground transport from/to Williams Lake can be provided at a reasonable cost.
